Dubai is set to witness a major transformation in its road infrastructure, with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Holding signing a Dh6 billion agreement to enhance traffic flow and connectivity across key developments. This ambitious project includes new access points, bridges, and road expansions aimed at reducing travel time by up to 70% in certain areas.
Enhanced Access to Jumeirah Village Circle & Key Developments
One of the most significant upgrades will take place in Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC), where four new access points will be introduced. These improvements will double the capacity of key entry and exit routes, ensuring smoother traffic flow and a 70% reduction in travel time within the community.
Additionally, new road enhancements will improve connectivity for major locations, including Dubai Production City, Business Bay, Palm Jumeirah, and International City (Phase 3).
Better Roads, Faster Commutes
▪️Dubai Production City: New bridges on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road will cut travel time by 50% while improving internal road flow.
▪️Palm Jumeirah: Additional acceleration and deceleration lanes, along with two pedestrian bridges, will optimize traffic flow and reduce travel time by 40%.
▪️International City (Phase 3): Road expansions and upgraded intersections will streamline traffic, reducing travel time from 15 minutes to just 5 minutes.
Prioritizing Road Safety & Seamless Traffic Flow
The agreement also includes a new pedestrian bridge on Sheikh Zayed Road and upgraded intersections with enhanced traffic lights for safer crossings and better road efficiency.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General of the RTA, emphasized that this initiative will improve access, connectivity, and road safety, ensuring a seamless commuting experience for residents and visitors.
With these upgrades, Dubai continues its commitment to world-class infrastructure, enhancing urban mobility and making travel across the emirate faster, safer, and more efficient.
